About Travis Wackerly
Somewhere along the way, I realized something simple: statistics rarely change people. Stories do.
That's why I create films, write music, and speak in churches and communities across the country. My mission is to tell stories that help people see what they've been missing and inspire them to take meaningful action.
For years, music was my platform. As a professional fiddle player, I had the opportunity to perform with country artists including Wade Hayes and Ricochet. Those experiences taught me the power of storytelling through music and the unique way a song can connect with someone's heart. Today, that same passion continues through bluegrass, songwriting, and original projects that point people toward hope.
My life's direction changed when foster care became personal. As a foster and adoptive father, I experienced firsthand both the heartbreak and the incredible hope that comes when a child finds safety, love, and belonging. I began to realize that behind every foster care statistic is a child with a name, a story, and a future worth fighting for.
That realization led me to combine everything I love, music, filmmaking, speaking, and storytelling, into one mission.
Today, I travel to churches, conferences, and organizations sharing stories that move people from awareness to compassion, and from compassion to action. Whether through a short film, a song, or a conversation, my hope is that every story leaves people seeing the world a little differently than before.
About Lumen 27 Project
Lumen 27 Project is the creative organization behind my films, music, and speaking ministry.
A lumen is a measure of light. The number 27 is inspired by James 1:27, a verse that has shaped both my faith and my mission:
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..."
Lumen 27 exists to shine light on stories that are often overlooked and inspire people to respond with compassion. While much of my work centers around foster care, the mission is broader than a single cause. It's about helping people see those who are too often unseen and reminding us that one story, one family, or one act of compassion can change a life forever.
If one film helps one child find one family, then every mile traveled, every song written, and every story told has been worth it.
